In honor of the NFL Draft being in Detroit this weekend, I wanted to try my hand at creating a Detroit Lions game day jacket. Jersey customization has always played a major role in game day styling like Kristen Juszczyk creating reworked pieces for herself and Taylor Swift that blew up last season. With women’s sports gaining more traction and the ever growing fashion runway that sporting events have become, I thought it would be important to create a sports jacket specifically for women. There should be more options for fashionable sportswear that aren’t just an oversized jersey.

Taking silhouette inspo from both sport and the fashion world, I wanted to create a piece that felt fun and sporty but still elevated and chic, creating versatility to be styled up or down. The entire jacket is created from thrifted and recycled jerseys and material, continuing to push the narrative to be more sustainable and resourceful. And I couldn’t do any other team than my home team after an amazing run last season.
